Visiting the church building
The church building is open to visitors every day from Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 12.30pm, and entry is via the church office. The building is also usually open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, but visitors are advised to telephone in advance to check. There is a colour guidebook available which gives information about many of the historic features of the building.
The nearest tube stations to the church are Liverpool Street, Bank, Monument and Aldgate.
From Liverpool Street take the Bishopsgate exit and turn right, or from Bank take exit two and walk up Threadneedle Street.
Parking at St Helen’s can be difficult, so please leave extra time, particularly on your first visit. Please note that you are liable for a parking ticket if you park on a double yellow line at any time, on a single yellow line line when parking restrictions are in force (at time of writing, 7am - 7pm weekdays, 7am - 11am Saturdays) on a single yellow line by a dropped kerb at any time, in a parking bay during controlled hours without paying the correct fee, or if you have parked with any of your vehicle's wheels on the pavement.
Details of parking restrictions are on the "Controlled Parking Zone" signs at the entrance to the City. Please also see the notes on the Corporation of London website about avoiding parking fines.
Great St Helen’s
A limited number of parking permits are available for use immediately outside the church in Great St Helen’s on Sunday mornings. Valid for one year, they are restricted to people with special requirements – such as those who have difficulty walking or have a number of small children. For more details, contact the church office (details above).
Pay and Display street parking bays in the City are free all day on Sundays, on Saturdays from 11am and on weekdays after 7pm, but ensure you check local signs. Roads with single yellow lines carry restrictions until 7pm on weekdays and 11am on Saturdays, but there is no restriction on Sundays
