Children's Ministry

Sunday School and so on

We love children and the sense of fun and energy that they bring to our church family. We long for each child at St Helen's to develop a love for Jesus that lasts a lifetime. So, everything we do is centred on the word of God and prayer.

We teach the Bible as faithfully, imaginatively, and engagingly as we can, depending upon the Lord to do his work through his word. We recognise that our children’s ministry and parents have complementary roles to play in this important work.

Children's Groups
Children’s groups and crèches are provided at the 10.30, 2.30 Mandarin, and 4pm congregations. Children begin in the main church meeting with all the adults and then after 10 minutes or so they leave for their groups.

Safeguarding
To ensure we offer the best possible care for the children, we have adopted the Safeguarding in the Diocese of London Policy Document. All our volunteers have been through the relevant screening procedures.

Teaching Resources
There are many excellent resources for teaching the Bible to children. We have found it most useful to glean the best bits from many different sources and tailor them to our specific needs.

We have used material from all these sources: Children Desiring God, Click, Kidswise, Praise Factory, Show me Jesus, Teaching Little Ones, TnT Ministries and Mustard Seeds.  All these focus primarily on teaching the Bible as the core of the resource and we would recommended them all to others.

In addition, some new resources have become available in the UK. Though we haven't used them ourselves, they too look excellent: The Gospel Story for Kids and The Gospel Project for Kids.
