Why Going To The Beach Is Good For You

Last summer forty five RML-ers hopped on a coach to Devon to spend a long weekend together down at the beach. The waves may have been non-existent (turning a ‘Surf Trip’ into a ‘Beach Trip’) but the sun was shining. Trips together with friends from church are obviously great fun. But they also seem to have an exponentially positive impact on our church family life together.

Time away together hanging out at the beach and toasting marshmallows gives us the space to really get to know each other. There’s time to chat, and not just about the next thing on our calendar. No one has to rush off to a meeting or head back to the office. Let’s be honest, there’s nothing like having to deal with each other in a no-make-up, I’m-wearing-my-pyjamas, I-haven’t-had-any-coffee-yet way to build some real family relationships. And those deeper relationships create the platform we need for deeper Christian encouragement both while we’re away and when we’re back home.

Here’s a few pictures to give you a flavour of last year’s trip. Want to come along this year? The dates are Friday 20th to Monday 23rd July. You can find out more about this year’s beach trip by emailing [email protected]
