There is one thing about Christmas that can never be changed. Christ-mas, the birth of Jesus, celebrates what John calls ‘the word becoming flesh’. Familiarity with the Christmas message can breed a lack of wonder. Close attention to just one verse of the most famous of all Christmas readings brings back proper perspective.
