Chapter 3 is built on three major contrasts between truth and error, right and wrong. The flesh and spirit are compared as well as profit and loss, and hostility and loyalty. The passage gives us some strong warnings, a good dose of reality, and a glimpse into Paul's personal experience. We see what it looks like to have a new passion and single-mindedness as we gain a heavenly perspective.
