Isaiah 40:1-31

Behold your God

Isaiah 40 shows us a God of sovereign power. God is coming back (v3-4) because God is fulfilling his promises (v5b, 8). His character revealed (v9) as the sovereign Lord whose arm rules (v10) and as the shepherd king whose arm gathers the lambs (v11).
