The true temple

Sometimes our ideas about Jesus are exposed when they are confronted with the realities of history. Jesus’ cleansing of the temple is a jarring episode that many don’t want to think too much about, but John’s portrait of Jesus leaves us with someone far greater than the Jesus of our own invention. He is destroying dead religion, and building in its place an indestructible relationship with God.
