The beautiful bride is ready

Over the next few days, we’re going to look at the end of Revelation. Here we find a picture of the bride (remember Ephesians 5), the church at the end of time. This is what and where we were created for as Christ’s body. Use your time in God’s words over these next few days to consider how valuable and precious God considers the chruch, as well as how much we have to look forward to as his Son’s bride!

Pray for God’s help as you look and think on his word now.

Read: Revelation 19:6–10

6Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. 7Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; 8it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”—for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. 9And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” 10Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Think: imagine the scene in heaven as these verses take place (in your mind, making reflective notes or drawing it out to help you). What makes it so good? How does the fact it’s compared to a marriage supper help us imagine its goodness? How does this glorious future picture help us when the church seems very weak or powerless now? Why is it important that we remember this is where we’re heading?

Pray: spend some time praising God for all the things that make this future picture of God’s king and his church so good. Ask him to help you believe the future of the church is this good.

Today: stick your imagined picture of this future day somewhere you’ll see it during the day to help you continue to ponder its goodness.
