A necessary death

All four accounts of Jesus' life and teaching devote significant space to Peter’s humiliating denial of Jesus. It is as if these early disciples are demanding we take Peter’s spiritual failure seriously. He may have been the best of men but even he failed. Thus, as Jesus heads to the cross, we are confronted with the need of every man—to be forgiven.
