What can we do to reverse the trend of wholesale desertion of the Christian faith in the West? The progressives have their ideas, though Paul would dismiss them as deception. While they may have a form of external godliness, they contain none of the life-changing power. Paul argues first for a commitment to him and his teaching and second, a determination to remain in the central truth to which the whole Bible points—the saving faith in Jesus. Finally, knowing the Scriptures which are sufficient for the task of gospel work.
