How to live this side of the cross

Now that Jesus has gone, how are we to live this side of the cross?
In John 13, Jesus teaches his disciples, by washing their feet, what he's about to do by going to the cross. He and the Father will be glorified through a shocking, but necessary and sufficient, act of service, and when he's gone, his disciples are to gloriously serve too.
