Why do we care so much about the Bible?

What is so special about reading the Bible? Why do Christians gather to read, discuss and apply it? We see from John 20:30-31 that we get to know Jesus as we read the Bible, and that through Jesus, we can receive true life. There's no other thing that demands our focus more than the Bible and getting to know our creator God.
