‘It happened’

What ruins the kingdom of God? It is so tempting to think that it takes real villains to ruin the kingdom of God, and that nice people are capable of establishing it. But in 2 Samuel 11–12, we see that it is David’s all-too-human failure that wreaks havoc upon the kingdom of God, and that our only hope is God’s gracious promise.
