Trouble from within

Is there anywhere left to turn when the chickens come home to roost? 2 Samuel 15–17 is desperate: the sword of judgment has fallen on David’s house, and its effects are calamitous. But 2 Samuel 15–17 is also full of grace: even as David faces the consequences of his failure, the Lord is at work to bring him back, in a way that ultimately points forward to the Lord Jesus Christ.
