Judges

Preaching Judges

William Taylor asks Charlie Skrine about the primary decisions the preacher has to make when teaching the book of Judges.

Are the judges in Judges being set forth as an example for us to follow, because of how Hebrews 11 holds them up? If Hebrews 11 is a control on the book of Judges, does this New Testament text teach the main application of Judges, and if not, why not? What connection should the preacher make between the judges and Christ? As we apply the text to ourselves, which characters are we supposed to identify with today? How do we go about preaching very adult topics in the book of Judges, in the presence of minors? We explore all of these questions and more.

Speaker:   William Taylor
